Share your story with the SAMSN community!

We value the honesty and courage it takes for survivors and supporters to step forward to share their experience.

Following are some guidelines and things to consider.

Safe Story Sharing Skills

Prioritising your self-care

  • Do you have any support available as you prepare, share, and get feedback on your story?
  • Is now the right time for you to do this?
  • Debriefing is useful for discussing your feelings after sharing your story.

Boundaries & Control

  • Only share what feels comfortable; you don’t have to reveal everything.
  • Protect your privacy by omitting or changing names, dates, or locations.

Clarify Your Intention

  • Identify which SAMSN value your story most reflects (Hope, Dignity, Connection and Community)

Empowerment

  • Emphasise your healing journey from victim to survivor.

Avoid Graphic Details

  • Choose words and topics carefully to prevent readers from becoming distressed.

Word length

  • Between 350 and 550 words maximum.
